Changes for Healthcare/Vulnerable checks - since March 2022
Due to ACIC compliance updates, the ACIC police partners have advised that since the introduction of the NDIS legislation the Healthcare Vulnerability indicator is no longer required or used by them to determine what information will be released onto a check.
The purpose / proposed place of work and/or issuing authority and state provided on a check, will determine what information can be released by police in accordance with the coinciding state or territory spent conviction legislation and/or information release policies.
Please ensure you do not use 'generic' terms for the purpose, e.g. 'Contractor'.
Your check may no longer specify healthcare vulnerable on the result, but if your check purpose and industry has a requirement under legislative police release policy they will be vetted in exactly the same way.
Please also note, if you still want to see this wording on your check, even though it is no longer used to determine the type of history to be released, you will need to enter this yourself in the purpose field along with specific role or requirement.
We would implore clients to accept certificates regardless of whether the certificate contains "healthcare/vulnerable" in the purpose field as long as the purpose is specific to the role required. For example: Aged Care Support worker OR Gardener working in Aged Care.
